Carbon Monoxide and The Indoor Environment

Course Description - This program covers the essential facts of carbon monoxide and causes of incomplete combustion.
Overall Goal - Improve the overall skills, performance and professionalism of participants who are responsible for Indoor Air Quality and also those professionals who install and service combustion heating systems and other combustion appliances.
Objectives and Purpose – Upon Completion of this program the participants will be able to:
· Identify sources of carbon monoxide
· Provide safe installation of products for consumers
· Identify symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning
· Explain how carbon monoxide responds to indoor environmental changes and situations
· Explain incomplete production and the potential production of CO
· Consider potential venting problems when installing combustion venting systems
· Identify combustion air problems that may lead to CO production
· Perform carbon monoxide tests & measurements
· Analyze combustion venting problems
Method of Presentation – Training methods used for presenting the information includes the following:
· Lecture / Facilitation – Attendees are lead to participate in various discussions, presentations and sharing of information and experiences
· Powerpoint presentation – Used as a stepping stone through the facilitation process
· Handouts of Carbon Monoxide Fact Sheets, including note sheets containing the Powerpoint presentation will be distributed.
Method of Evaluation –At the end of the course, participants will be asked to complete a quiz confirming their understanding of the specific objectives of the course.
Qualification of Instructor – Frank Besednjak offers a dynamic, entertaining approach to keeping audiences involved and motivated to listen. He has consulted for and presented at training seminars and meetings throughout the United States to over 10,000 individuals, businesses and trade organizations, including the National Association of Plumbing, Heating & Cooling Contractors, Sheet Metal Workers Union, Air Conditioning Contractors Association, Refrigeration Service Engineers Society and many others.
Frank has a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Marketing from McKendree College and has attended numerous workshops, seminars and trade conferences to improve his knowledge and expertise. He is a member of ICC/BOCA, RSES, ACCA, IAQA and numerous others. Also considered an expert at training design, he’s been involved in the education of skilled trades since 1982. With many years of working in various leadership roles for Sony, RCA and General Electric, Frank Besednjak has developed and presented numerous technical programs from environmental health, OSHA and safety, improving personal performance, to consumer and industrial products.
